Are you seeking psychology internships abroad? If so then you need not look any further than Jamaica! Our psychology internship abroad program is made specifically for college and university students seeking to spend a few weeks abroad while on break from school. It offers you a chance to help boost your skills, provides you with hands-on experience, and enhances your CV simultaneously.
We have partnered with a number of local mental health clinics and facilities, where our psychology interns are able to work in real medical centers with real patients. Interns are given a host of duties, such as assisting in performing administrative tasks, working with the psychiatrist and other mental health professionals to observe and diagnose patients, administering medication, counseling youth, substance abusers and abuse victims, visiting schools and communities to educate locals about mental illness, attend one-on-one or group counseling sessions and much more.
This is the perfect chance to help you to gain on the job experience, and to see what working in the mental health field is really like. Come prepared to be challenged like never before, as you work side by side with local teams to conduct research and field studies, and work with a wide range of causes, some more complex than others.
On the weekends and some days after your project, you can join in on fun cultural activities and adventures, or relax at your accommodation.
So if you are seeking a mental health internship abroad to provide you with valuable work experience while you get acclimated to a new culture, apply now and let us help you make your wish a reality.
Once you have been accepted to join our international business internships, your Project Advisor will schedule a call or online meeting with you to discuss the activities and duties you would like to perform on your internship. It is advised that you start thinking about these activities the moment you decide to join this project, to have a better idea of the goals you would like to accomplish.
Some ideas you can think about include:
These are just some examples. Feel free to discuss any other activities you would like to engage in during your project.
This may be possible, however, you would have to check with your school to see if it can be arranged, and then submit the relevant documents to us in a timely fashion.
We strive to go the extra mile to help our interns raise funds to offset the cost of their health science internships abroad. This is why we created our fundraising guide with fun tips to help you raise funds to offset the cost of your trip to Jamaica.
We are happy to provide you with any documentation that you may need to apply for study abroad funding or grants available at your school.
To start your business internships abroad, we will accompany you to your work site to help you settle in and introduce you to your supervisor and the team. You will receive an orientation, be shown around the office and we will advise you on how to get your lunch each day.
After you have completed your international business internships for college students, we will award you with a Business Internship Certificate. We will also sign ay course-related documents.
Our International business internships include full breakfast, lunch, and dinner each day. We will prepare Jamaican cuisine, and we cater to all dietary preferences and restrictions including allergies, vegans, kosher, diabetics and more.
On the first day of your business internships abroad project, we will give you a full orientation where we will cover work hours, transfer times, accommodation and project rules, the Jamaican lifestyle, extracurricular activities and more.
After you pay the processing fee for your medical internship in Jamaica, you will be able to create your account on our website and enroll in our digital culture classes, even before you arrive. This course includes several videos, worksheets, and learning materials where you learn all about Jamaica’s culture, and cover topics such as our food, government, history, traditions, norms, religion, and more.
As a part of your health internships abroad package, you will also get access to our online course to learn how to speak, write and understand Patois (pronounced Pat-Wah), which is our local dialect.
During weekdays after you return to your accommodation and have had dinner, we will offer you a mentorship/reflection session with your Project Advisor, so you can discuss the day’s activities, ask us any questions, explain the problems you faced and expound upon your plans for the following days. This will typically last about 30 minutes.
We pick you up at the airport and transfer you to your accommodation. The airport you should fly into is the Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston (KIN). We will meet you at the airport with a sign saying “Jamaica International Projects”. You will be transferred directly from the airport to your accommodation.
Each day, you will be transferred from your accommodation directly to your international business internships work site by a team member. We will also pick you up at the agreed upon time and transfer you either back to the accommodation, to change money/purchase supplies or to a cultural immersion activity/excursion, depending upon your itinerary.
For your tours, you will have a Project Advisor accompanying you to point out important landmarks and to function as a guide. You will be transferred to and from all excursions and outings.
At the conclusion of your business internships abroad, we will transfer you back to the airport to catch your flight back home.

I had a wonderful placement at the pediatric center where the Dr and staff were very welcoming. I was able to develop my manual blood pressure taking ability and other key skills that I’m not able to practice in my typical clinical environment.
WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE. This was a life changing experience. The children were so great. They gave me and taught me so much more than I gave them. This was one of the most satisfying trips I’ve ever done. Jomo, his mother and Dwayne were great hosts and caretakers. Jamaica and its people will forever be in my heart.
Unforgettable experience! All of you should try it. It was only my first-time volunteering and I’d love to do it again through the same Jamaica International Projects.
