Healthcare Internships Abroad Placements

You will be placed at either a clinic, health center, or private practice in Kingston, Montego Bay, Ocho Rios, Falmouth, Portland, St. Catherine, or Negril based on your preferences and the type of health care program you are joining.

Academic Credit/Work Hours

We understand that many interns join a medical internship overseas to gain work hours that will go towards completing their medical course. If you desire to have course-related documentation signed by your supervisor in Jamaica, please inform us in advance so that we can arrange this with your placement.

Fundraising Assistance

We strive to go the extra mile to help our interns raise funds to offset the cost of their health science internships abroad. This is why we created our fundraising guide with fun tips to help you raise funds to offset the cost of your trip to Jamaica.

We are happy to provide you with any documentation that you may need to apply for study abroad funding or grants available at your school.

Your First Day

On the first day of your internship, a Program Advisor will accompany you to your medical facility where you will be introduced to the local doctors and staff members. You will be shown around the property and meet your supervisor, who will outline your objectives. Your Project Advisor will not leave until you are fully settled in, and know where to purchase your lunch. If you are doing your internship online, your Project Advisor will be present at your first meeting with your placement supervisor.

Project Completion

When you complete your medicine internships abroad we will present you with an Internship Certificate signed by our Managing Director. We would also be happy to sign any documents that you would need to prove community service hours (if applicable). Your Project Supervisor will also sign any school-related documentation needed.

    Reviews

    • I had a wonderful placement at the pediatric center where the Dr and staff were very welcoming. I was able to develop my manual blood pressure taking ability and other key skills that I’m not able to practice in my typical clinical environment.

    • WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE. This was a life changing experience. The children were so great. They gave me and taught me so much more than I gave them. This was one of the most satisfying trips I’ve ever done. Jomo, his mother and Dwayne were great hosts and caretakers. Jamaica and its people will forever be in my heart.

    • Unforgettable experience! All of you should try it. It was only my first-time volunteering and I’d love to do it again through the same Jamaica International Projects.
