Overview
Students studying journalism, mass media or communications should consider joining our journalism internships abroad in Jamaica. Our projects place interns with seasoned professionals in some of Jamaica’s most esteemed media outlets. Our partners include radio stations, television networks, newspaper outlets and online marketing firms.
Work in a wide range of fields, such as sports, news, business, politics, crime or art, or choose to specialize in one particular area. Whether your focus is in print journalism, photojournalism, blogging, broadcast journalism or multimedia journalism, we will customize a project that will grant you the experience you are seeking.
You will be assigned a mentor, who will ensure that you are fitting in and accomplishing your goals, as well as function as your supervisor. We work closely with our local partners to ensure that your daily duties are in line with the experience you are seeking, so each day you will be doing meaningful work.

You must be either currently enrolled in a business related course, or have some form of certification and experience in the business field you are applying for.
This may be possible, however, you would have to check with your school to see if it can be arranged, and then submit the relevant documents to us in a timely fashion.
Once you have been accepted to join our international business internships, your Project Advisor will schedule a call or online meeting with you to discuss the activities and duties you would like to perform on your internship. It is advised that you start thinking about these activities the moment you decide to join this project, to have a better idea of the goals you would like to accomplish.
Some ideas you can think about include:
- Work on an accounting internship abroad project at a local company, or an accounting firm
- Volunteer in the human resources department on human resource management internships abroad placements
- Intern in other business-related fields such as business management or information technology
- Work with qualified and experienced professionals who will impart tips and pass on skills
- Test your knowledge by applying what you learned in class to real-world situations
- Gain course credit *only for supported courses
- Hone your skills in a real workplace
- Build relationships with Jamaicans working in your field and broaden your network
- Learn about workplace ethics and laws in Jamaica
These are just some examples. Feel free to discuss any other activities you would like to engage in during your project.
To start your business internships abroad, we will accompany you to your work site to help you settle in and introduce you to your supervisor and the team. You will receive an orientation, be shown around the office and we will advise you on how to get your lunch each day.
On some weekdays after you complete work, and on the weekends, you can purchase tours and adventure packages to have some fun and get to experience the beauty of Jamaica. Book your tours on our cultural immersion and adventure packages here.
After you have completed your international business internships for college students, we will award you with a Business Internship Certificate. We will also sign ay course-related documents.

- Money to purchase lunch ($3 – $5 USD per day)
- Insect repellent to prevent mosquito and bug bites
- Any supplies or equipment to help you perform your duties
- A camera to take pictures
- Sunscreen if you intend to play in the sun or sunbathe
- A reusable water bottle
- Comfortable shoes
- A laptop, tablet or smartphone to take notes
- Cash for any shopping or excursions
- Water shoes if you plan on swimming
You can stay with Jomo, the owner of Jamaica International Projects and his family. You will be in a dorm room that sleeps up to 5 people comfortably, with air conditioning.
This 3-star hotel is ideal for couples and groups. You will receive our full support while here as well.
Our International business internships include full breakfast, lunch, and dinner each day. We will prepare Jamaican cuisine, and we cater to all dietary preferences and restrictions including allergies, vegans, kosher, diabetics and more.
On the first day of your business internships abroad project, we will give you a full orientation where we will cover work hours, transfer times, accommodation and project rules, the Jamaican lifestyle, extracurricular activities and more.
To ensure we offer the best international business internships, we include training to ensure that you are fully equipped to take on your duties and that you fit right into your work environment.
Daily cultural lessons are included in our international business major internships. These are 30-minute sessions where we teach you about various aspects of Jamaican culture, such as traditions, norms, religion, food, history, government and more.
You will also receive lessons on how to speak, write and understand Patois (pronounced Pat-Wah), which is our local dialect.
During weekdays after you return to your accommodation and have had dinner, we will offer you a mentorship/reflection session with your Project Advisor, so you can discuss the day’s activities, ask us any questions, explain the problems you faced and expound upon your plans for the following days. This will typically last about 30 minutes.
We pick you up at the airport and transfer you to your accommodation. The airport you should fly into is the Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston (KIN). We will meet you at the airport with a sign saying “Jamaica International Projects”. You will be transferred directly from the airport to your accommodation.
Each day, you will be transferred from your accommodation directly to your international business internships work site by a team member. We will also pick you up at the agreed upon time and transfer you either back to the accommodation, to change money/purchase supplies or to a cultural immersion activity/excursion, depending upon your itinerary.
For your tours, you will have a Project Advisor accompanying you to point out important landmarks and to function as a guide. You will be transferred to and from all excursions and outings.
At the conclusion of your business internships abroad, we will transfer you back to the airport to catch your flight back home.

You can choose between two payment methods for our international business major internships:
Credit Card: If your package total is less than $8,000 USD, you may choose to pay with a credit card. All credit card payments will incur a 4% processing fee.
Wire Transfer: If your package is greater than $8,000 USD, you will have to pay via wire transfer. This method of payment will also incur a processing fee that you will be responsible to cover, which may vary depending on your bank of choice.
Once you have decided to join the best international business internships in Jamaica, proceed to the booking form, enter the relevant info, select your preferred payment option (30% deposit or full payment) and submit. After submission, you’ll be sent a list of documents to be submitted, payment instructions and a link to the internship application form.

We will review your booking and application within 24 hours and reach out to you via your preferred means of contact. You will get to discuss your goals, skills and ask us questions. This is where you will learn of your acceptance into the program.
If you are accepted into our international business internships for college students, your documents will then become due for submission so that we can fully arrange your placement.
These Include:
- A copy of your CV/Resume
- 2 Reference letters (1 personal, 1 professional)
- 1 recent photo id (passport, national id, school id or driver’s license)
- 1 police report/criminal background check
- Proof of travel insurance (you can purchase affordable IMG travel medical insurance here)
- Flight itinerary
- Completed internship application form
You will then be notified to clear up all outstanding fees and balances (if you made a 30% deposit or made any additional changes to your package).
