If you are a qualified teacher, an educated individual, experienced in a specific subject area or just seeking to lend a helping hand in a school setting, then our volunteer teaching abroad programs are what you are seeking. You have the option of volunteering in either elementary schools, middle schools/junior high or high schools, with students ranging from the ages of 3-19.

The Impact Of Teaching Volunteer Abroad Work

Many schools in Jamaica are overcrowded, with teachers sometimes being forced to work with limited supplies in classes that can hold anywhere from 30-50 students. As you can imagine, it is difficult to give each student the one-on-one attention that they deserve. This is why your help is needed on our volunteer teaching overseas projects, as you can assist the teacher with lessons, and get to know the students on a personal level, while offering them individual assistance.


We also partner with several technical and trade schools to offer volunteer teaching abroad for qualified teachers in areas ranging from information technology, food preparation, carpentry, technical drawing and much more. Our teaching volunteer programs are a perfect opportunity for you to pass on your knowledge and skills. It is also a great learning opportunity while traveling, as it gives you a chance to interact with Jamaicans on a daily basis and learn about our culture.

How You Can Help On Our Teaching Volunteer Abroad Trip:

Project Details

Volunteer Abroad Teaching Project Placement

You will be placed in elementary, secondary, junior high schools or technical schools in St. Catherine, Kingston, Montego Bay, Ocho Rios (St. Ann) or Negril based on your preference.


Amount Of Participants:

This project is open to individuals, couples and groups. We can accommodate as many as 30 volunteers at a time. Special arrangements are needed for larger groups.



You must love working with children and/or teenagers, and be willing to devote enough time and effort to commit to a meaningful project. Teaching experience would be an asset.



No Prior experience is needed to join our teaching abroad volunteer programs, however teaching experience may qualify you for an advanced placement. Let us know if you possess any skills that you could use to assist the children and the school where you will volunteer.


Project Activities:

After you apply, our Program Advisor will contact you to discuss the activities that you would like to engage in during your project. Pre-planning is an important step to an impactful project, so please think carefully on what your goals are during this time.


Here Is A List Of Activities That You Can Choose From:

*Assist students with subject areas such as Mathematics, Science, English, music or other subject areas

*Give students individual attention and assistance
*Create charts and teaching aids for the students
*Arrange fun physical education activities
*Share your culture and past experiences with students
*Raise funds back home to purchase stationary and other learning material to give to students
*Share in the Jamaican culture with the students as you interact with them daily

If you would like to suggest an activity not listed above, please discuss with your Program Advisor.



Oftentimes the school where you will be placed to complete your teaching volunteer opportunities abroad may need resources to help them with daily lessons or to complete special projects. You will have an opportunity to conduct fundraising events and collect stationary and other supplies back home before you depart to Jamaica. We will send you a list of their most urgent needs.


This is OPTIONAL, so if you are unable to do this there is no pressure.


We will be happy to provide you with any support documentation that you may need to present to donors, and we have prepared a fundraising guide to help our volunteers raise funds to help offset the cost of the program.

We offer projects for a minimum of 1 week and a maximum of 3 months. For projects longer than 3 months, you will need to contact us to check visa and other requirements.


Your First Day:

On the first day of your project, a Program Advisor will accompany you to the school, where you will be introduced to the staff, given a tour of the property and taken to your class to meet the students. If you arrive early enough you may even get to take part in daily devotions. We will spend some time to ensure that you are settled in comfortably, and that you know what you will be doing for the remainder of the day.


We will also make necessary arrangements so that you know where you can purchase lunch.



We can provide company operated transportation to and from your project daily, at an additional cost if you desire. Otherwise you can arrange your own transportation, or contact us for assistance.


Project Completion:

Upon the completion of your project, we will present you with a signed and stamped Certificate of Participation, signed by our General Manager. We would also be happy to sign any documents that you would need to prove community service hours.


Recommended To Take With You:

In order for your volunteer teachers abroad trip to be completely fulfilling, we recommend that you take along the following items with you:

*Money to purchase meals, pay for transfers and any shopping

*Insect repellent
*Supplies to assist with your project
*A camera to take pictures
*Sunscreen if you intend to play in the sun or sunbathe
*A water bottle
*Comfortable shoes
*Formal clothing for wearing to school


Volunteer Placements Only

If you only wish for us to arrange your volunteer orphanage abroad program while you arrange all other aspects of your trip, we can arrange this as well. This is called a Volunteer Placement Only Package. You will be responsible for arranging your own accommodation, daily transfers, airport pickup/return and meals. We will still arrange your volunteer program, process your documents and provide pre-arrival support. Our program advisor will also accompany you to the project on your first day and you will receive your certificate at the end of your program.

Our volunteer teaching jobs abroad are available all year round. During summer or the Christmas school break you can visit orphanages, churches or communities to teach the students there.


Project Dates and Times:

Projects normally run Monday through Friday, so we ask that volunteers arrive on the weekend, preferably Saturday. If you cannot come on a weekend, we will still accommodate you.


Afternoon And Weekends:

On weekends, and some weekday afternoons, you can partake in our cultural immersion and excursion tours. Accommodation and Transportation



Where You Will Stay:

Book your own accommodation in the area where you will volunteer. Choose from many hotels, Airbnb houses, guest houses or other accommodations based on your budget, or even stay with family or friends who live in Jamaica.


Group Accommodations

For teaching volunteer abroad groups, you will be able to choose from a wide list of guest houses or hotels that we work with or manage to accommodate your members. You can choose accommodations in the most popular areas of Jamaica, equipped with dorm rooms, double rooms and private rooms and modern day amenities.



We provide all of our volunteers with orientation on your date of arrival. Once you are settled into your accommodation, you will be given your finalized itinerary and your orientation guide. During orientation we will go over project dates and times, transportation, meal times, cultural/excursion activities and you will be given tips on Jamaica.





Daily Transfers:

If you desire, we can arrange transportation for you by company owned/vetted vehicles.

A Program Advisor will review your application and contact you within 24 hours via email, Skype, Google Hangouts or telephone. You will get a chance to discuss your goals, skills, fundraising and ask us any questions.


Secure Your Placement:

As soon as you are accepted, you will need to pay your Non-Refundable Program Fee so that we can begin making your placement and processing your application. Groups may also pay a deposit or make a payment in full for the balance of your package once you are sure of your date of travel, because availability is on a first come first serve basis.


Submit Documentation:

After paying the program fee you will be sent a list of documents that you need to submit. We ask that you submit these documents as soon as possible, so if you are planning to join this program then you should start the process of obtaining them from now. These documents are:

• 2 Reference letters (1 personal, 1 professional)
• 1 recent photo id (passport, national id or driver's license
• 1 police report/criminal background check
• Proof of travel insurance (if you do not have insurance you can purchase it HERE)
• Flight itinerary


Finalize All Payments:

All payments must be finalized no later than 60 days before your travel date.


You will receive updates on your project and itinerary via emails, phone calls and through Google+ or Skype calls.
