The minimum age to enroll independently is 16 years old. Interns under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Once your application is accepted, submit the following documents before your start date:
Before you arrive, your Project Advisor will schedule a planning session to map out your placement. We discuss your academic requirements, the clinical areas you want to focus on, any paperwork your institution needs, and the day-to-day structure of your internship. Arriving with a clear plan means you spend every available hour learning — not figuring out where you fit.
Specific activities depend on your placement track and host facility. Your Project Advisor will confirm your scope of practice before you arrive.
Day one is orientation. Your Project Advisor accompanies you to your clinical placement site, introduces you to the nursing team, walks you through the facility and daily workflow, and makes sure you understand exactly what is expected of you. You will not be thrown in alone. By the end of your first day, you will have met your supervisor, understood your schedule, and already begun building the familiarity that makes clinical placements productive.
Clinical shifts typically run through the morning and early afternoon. After that, the island is yours. Our partner adventure company offers tours across Jamaica — from the Blue Mountains to Negril’s Seven Mile Beach. Your host family is an invaluable local guide too, and evenings at the homestay are rarely dull. Some of your best conversations about Jamaican health and culture will happen around the dinner table, not in a clinic.
You receive a formal Nursing Internship Certificate signed by our Managing Director, along with a letter of recommendation. We also provide a detailed record of your clinical hours and activities for submission to your university, nursing board, or employer. If your institution requires a specific form or sign-off format, let us know in advance and we will work with your placement site to provide it.

We are experienced in producing the documentation nursing schools and universities typically require — clinical hour logs, supervisor sign-offs, placement descriptions, and completion certificates. About a month before your start date, we hold a 30-minute onboarding session on Zoom or Google Meet. You receive a formal welcome, a virtual orientation of Jamaica and your clinical placement site, practical travel tips, and access to our online Jamaican culture, language, and travel safety courses to complete at your own pace before departure.
Confirm your passport is valid for your full trip duration. Check visa requirements for Jamaica based on your nationality. Purchase a travel medical insurance plan that covers the full duration of your program. Book your flights into Montego Bay or Kingston.
