Our women’s empowerment volunteer abroad program puts you directly into that effort. You work alongside local women’s groups on vocational skills training, financial literacy workshops, and confidence-building programming — contributing your time and skills in support of goals the women themselves have set, not an agenda designed for visiting volunteers.

The minimum age to enroll independently is 16 years old. Participants under 18 must have a parent or guardian involved in their enrollment. Once your application is accepted, submit the following before your project begins:
Many participants in our partner programs left formal schooling earlier than they wanted to, often due to early motherhood or family financial pressure. A women’s education volunteer abroad placement here might mean tutoring toward a school certification, building basic literacy, or simply creating consistent space for learning that fits around work and childcare.
The clearest measure of women’s economic empowerment abroad is whether a participant leaves the program more able to earn a stable income than when she arrived. That’s why our partner programs lean heavily on concrete, marketable skills — sewing, food production, basic bookkeeping — over abstract empowerment workshops alone.
If you have a specific skill — sewing, baking, graphic design, basic accounting — a vocational training volunteer abroad placement lets you teach it directly to women actively looking to build a livelihood around it. Let your Project Advisor know your specific skills during enrollment so your placement can be matched accordingly.
Your Project Advisor accompanies you to your placement on day one. You will meet the women’s group coordinator, receive an orientation of current programming and participant needs, and get a briefing on the group’s priorities before you begin.
Most sessions run in the morning or early afternoon, around participants’ work and childcare schedules. After that, our partner tour company offers excursions across the island, or you can simply rest and reflect on your day.
You receive an official Volunteer Certificate signed by our Managing Director confirming your placement, your project, and your hours. If you need documentation of your hours for academic or professional purposes, we work with your placement organization to provide as complete a record as possible.

This depends entirely on the women’s group’s current programming — it might be a sewing workshop, a budgeting session, a literacy class, or facilitated group discussion. Your Project Advisor will brief you on current priorities once your placement is confirmed.
