Intern inside the business side of sports in the country that produced Usain Bolt and a world-famous high school athletics championship. Our sports management internship abroad program places you with sports organizations, clubs, and event operations in Kingston and St. Catherine.
Few countries Jamaica’s size carry this much weight in global sport. Its track and field program has produced some of the fastest sprinters in history, its high school championships — known islandwide simply as “Champs” — draw the kind of attendance and media coverage most countries reserve for professional leagues, and football, cricket, and netball all have deep, organized followings. Running that ecosystem takes the same event coordination, marketing, and team management work as sports organizations anywhere else in the world.
Our sports management internship abroad program places you directly inside that operational side. You support real event coordination, marketing, and team management work for sports organizations and clubs — contributing to live event logistics, sponsor engagement, and athlete administration tasks under the supervision of working sports administrators.
Sports management internships exist all over the world. Here is what makes a Jamaican placement worth your time:
For placement only projects, sports management internships can be arranged in Kingston, St. Catherine, Runaway Bay, and Montego Bay. For Full projects, you will be placed in Kingston or St. Catherine.
This program is designed for sports management, business, and marketing students, as well as early-career professionals seeking international sports industry experience. Your specific track is matched to your background and interests during enrollment.
Your placement is matched to one of the following tracks based on your background, interests, and host organization availability:
A sports administration internship abroad places you inside the day-to-day operations of a sports organization or governing body.
A sports marketing internship abroad focuses on promotion, fan engagement, and sponsorship for a team, club, or event.
A sports event management internship abroad places you on the operational team responsible for executing live competitions and events.
A sports business internship abroad focuses on the commercial and strategic side of running a sports organization.
An athletic administration internship abroad places you closer to the athletes themselves, supporting team and program logistics.
The minimum age to enroll independently is 16 years old. Participants under 18 must have a parent or guardian involved in their enrollment. Most participants are college-age or early-career given the program’s career-readiness focus. Once your application is accepted, submit the following before your program begins:
Your Project Advisor accompanies you to your host organization for orientation, introducing you to your supervisor and walking through current event calendar, organizational priorities, and your specific responsibilities for the placement.
You receive an official Internship Certificate signed by our Managing Director, a letter of recommendation from your host supervisor, and a summary of your specific projects and contributions — useful for job applications, graduate school, or academic credit.

Here are a few common questions interns ask before joining our sports management internship abroad program.
No. Playing experience can help with credibility and context, but it isn’t required — sports administration, marketing, and event roles are business and operations functions, not playing roles.
This depends on host organization availability and your track preference, and may include track and field, football, cricket, or netball organizations. Tell us your specific sport interest during application so we can prioritize a matching placement.
Many sports management and business programs accept documented international internship experience toward elective or internship credit, though specific requirements vary by institution. We provide detailed hours logs and supervisor sign-off most programs accept as supporting documentation — confirm specifics with your academic coordinator before applying.
Yes. Many participants combine this with another internship or volunteer placement during the same trip. Let your Project Advisor know if you would like a combined placement.
Flights, daily lunch, personal spending money, optional weekend excursions, travel insurance, visa fees where applicable, and personal equipment like a laptop are all outside the fee. A full breakdown is included in your offer email.
Yes. Contact your Project Advisor and we will extend your placement at the additional weekly rate, subject to your host organization’s availability.
