It is estimated that 32,000 Jamaicans are living with HIV/AIDS, and approximately 50% of this figure are unaware that they are infected. This is not only caused by unprotected sex but also the stigma and misconceptions that many Jamaicans have about the transmission of HIV/AIDS. This is why help is needed on our HIV AIDS volunteer opportunities to help in the fight against this deadly virus.
This project is aimed at assisting persons living in Jamaica with HIV/AIDS by providing them with the proper care, treatment and support they deserve. We work with local Non-Profit organizations aimed at the prevention and treatment of HIV/AIDS in Jamaica.
Volunteers are also tasked with helping local organizations with raising awareness about HIV/AIDS and educating Jamaicans about this and other sexually transmitted infections. This program is perfect for anyone looking to offer assistance, especially in a medical capacity. Although you do not need prior medical experience to participate in these projects, it would be an asset.
So if you are planning to join our HIV volunteer abroad programs in Jamaica, apply now and take the first step towards helping a hand to Jamaicans in need.

All volunteers joining our volunteer dentistry abroad project will receive orientation and support documentation on your date of arrival. Once you are settled into your accommodation, you will be given your finalized itinerary and your orientation guide. During orientation, we will go over project dates and times, transportation, meal times, cultural/excursion activities and you will be given tips on Jamaica.
We also provide daily mentorship sessions for teenagers or a general review of your day’s activities for more experienced volunteers. You are free to discuss the challenges you faced that day, the activities you completed at your project site, your plans for the following day and ask any questions you may have. This is roughly 30 minutes daily.

Overall, I had an amazing time with this program. I love how individualize the projects were and how Jomo really invested his time into making sure you enjoyed each experience. Working with the nutritionist was a wonderful time for me and taught me many lessons that I will use as a further in my career. As well as, as the children’s home open my eyes to a whole different side of life that I have never seen before. As far as the accommodation goes, it was excellent. I enjoyed getting to know him and his guest that were staying.
For the future, hopefully, there will be more volunteers than one at a time. I enjoyed the alone time because part of the reason I came on this trip was to get away from all the drama in my life back home! But for others, they might get kind of bored or lonely. All in all, I will remember this trip always and glad I had such a great experience!
WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE. This was a life changing experience. The children were so great. They gave me and taught me so much more than I gave them. This was one of the most satisfying trips I’ve ever done. Jomo, his mother and Dwayne were great hosts and caretakers. Jamaica and its people will forever be in my heart.
Unforgettable experience! All of you should try it. It was only my first-time volunteering and I’d love to do it again through the same Jamaica International Projects.
