If you are looking to spend a few hours out of a day to volunteer and give back to the less fortunate, then our 1 Day Volunteer Programs are perfect for you. This program was made specifically for the volunteer who would like to give back and make a difference in a short space of time.

Details

What To Expect

On the day of your project, we will pick you up at your hotel or cruise ship port and transfer you to your volunteer site either in Kingston or Montego Bay, whichever is closest. Some projects may be available in other locations that would be closer, however, if this applies we will advise you of this during booking.

When you arrive at your volunteer location you will be given an orientation on the project, meet with the local team you will be working with and settle in to begin the day’s activities. You will also find out the lunch arrangements for the day.

Once you have completed a day’s volunteer work, we will either transfer you back to the accommodation or cruise port we picked you up from, or take you to other scheduled activities and excursions (if you had purchased any).

1 Day Volunteer Trip Highlights

  • Choose from a wide range of volunteer projects
  • Share your skills, knowledge, and expertise with locals and the less fortunate
  • Get a first-hand experience into the Jamaican culture as you escape your resort to see our roots
  • Have a Project Advisor accompany you to your project and act as your guide
  • We donate 10% of the profits of this project to charity
  • You choose how long you wish to volunteer for, so you can volunteer for as little as 1 hour up to 8 hours

If you have decided to book this project after reading the information above, proceed to the booking form, enter the relevant information and submit the booking. After you’ve submitted your booking, you will be sent an application form which you must fill out. This form will give us information about yourself so we can make the relevant preparation for your volunteer experience.

If you are interested in this project but you are not ready to book, please complete our enquiry form, utilize the live chat option, give us a call or send us an email for more information.

Step Two (Follow Up Interview)

A Project Advisor will review your application and contact you within 24 hours via email, Skype, Google Hangouts or telephone. You will get a chance to discuss your goals, skills, fundraising and ask us any questions. You may also schedule an interview to learn more about us and tell us more about yourself and your goals. After we have had a successful interview, we will then proceed to send you a request for payment of the processing fee, as well as the volunteer project cost. By making a deposit you will secure your space in this project. Only then will your project be guaranteed.

Step Three (Document Submission)

After making the payment as per your payment plan, and submitting your volunteer application you will be sent a list of documentation that you need to submit. Reviews

  • This was a life changing experience. The children were so great. They gave me and taught me so much more than I gave them. This was one of the most satisfying trips I’ve ever done. Jomo, his mother, and Dwayne were great hosts and caretakers. Jamaica and its people will forever be in my heart.

  • During my time in Jamaica with Jamaica International Projects, I have had a very enjoyable time. The volunteering gave me a fantastic experience that I will never forget. The excursions we were able to do gave us an authentic vision and experience in Jamaica. The food was amazing and nobody ever went away hungry, and whenever we needed to buy lunch we were always given plenty of options for food. The accommodation was very good and the staff at the hotel very useful. Jomo Barnett was an amazing guide and support during our time in Jamaica.

  • We volunteered by painting the girl’s dorms at Jamaica National Children’s Home. It was the most wonderful experience as we really got to know the girls and their personalities. I really enjoyed spending time with the children and playing with them. It truly was an amazing experience. The excursions really immersed us in the culture of Jamaica. The food and accommodation were lovely and gave us an authentic experience of Jamaica.
