Do you have experience as a Bone Specialist? Is your area of expertise physiotherapy perhaps? Maybe you are a doctor or medical student? Or is it that you are simply interested in travelling to Jamaica to help in any way that you can, and you think this program is your best option? If you answer yes to any of these questions, then our physical therapy volunteer abroad programs and orthopedic volunteer opportunities are perfect for you.

Many patients in Jamaica, especially the elderly suffer from arthritis, joint conditions and other bone defects that require urgent care. Physical therapy is also needed to help overcome debilitating complications that affect functionality, such as arthritis or strokes. Physiotherapy is needed now in Jamaica more than ever, thanks to the outbreak of Chikungunya and the Zika Virus, which has left many Jamaicans in excruciating pain. This is your chance to step up and help patients in Jamaica.

Program For Orthopedic Volunteers Overseas In Jamaica

Our orthopedic volunteer and physical therapy international volunteer projects will place you in communities and areas where there is urgent need for assistance. They are perfect for medical students, health care professionals, trained doctors or volunteers looking to give back while learning new skills. This is your chance to travel abroad and gain on the job experience while utilizing your skills and knowledge to help the less fortunate in Jamaica.

  • Work with a local team of experts to correct abnormalities in bone structure and mass
  • Assist in curing skeletal diseases and fractures
  • Observe Orthopaedic surgeons performing procedures such as joint replacement surgery
  • Observe and help evaluate cases of sports injuries, arthritis, bone and muscle injuries, carpal tunnel syndrome, trigger fingers, ganglions and more
  • Help clients with rehabilitation and therapy
  • Provide administrative support for the office of the Physician or Orthopaedic Surgeon
  • Help patients with lower back pain, sprains, heel spurs and arthritis with therapy to the injured area
  • Assist persons who have suffered from strokes to regain functionality in joints and limbs through exercise and physiotherapy
  • Visit communities, schools and organizations to educate locals on the importance of caring for bones and joints, and measures to take to prevent bone, joint and muscle injuries, especially in the elderly
