Description

Dental Volunteer Abroad Opportunities - Volunteer Dentistry Jamaica Programs

Dentists, dental students and other dental professionals are needed to join our volunteer dentistry projects in Jamaica. They will work alongside local dentists and communities to provide oral health services, and promote good oral hygiene in both children and adults.

Many individuals in Jamaica live below the poverty line, and lack access to basic oral health and hygiene resources. You can help to alleviate this problem by making use of our dentist volunteer opportunities in clinics and private institutions that offer dental services to Jamaicans.

Why You Should Choose Our Dentistry Volunteer Opportunities

This is a perfect opportunity for dental professionals to come to Jamaica and provide their services to the poor, while building their skills and gaining valuable experience. There is also an opportunity for you to shadow a local dentist and work as an intern in his private practice to assist with treating serious dental problems, or offer training in schools and other organizations on how to clean, care and maintain the teeth, gums and tongue.

So whether you are seeking dental volunteer experience, or you just wish to give back while educating children and adults about proper oral care, apply for our dentistry volunteer programs today and take the first step towards realizing your dream in Jamaica.

What You Can Do During Your Dental Volunteering Abroad Program:

  • *Go to clinics, schools and orphanages to educate and train Jamaicans on the proper dental practices
  • *Practice in a private dental firm with a certified dentist to shadow him and assist in dealing with serious oral diseases
  • *Join a team of volunteer dentists and professionals in hospitals or clinics to provide practical work in general dentistry, such as scaling, extractions, fillings and root canal work
  • *Conduct dental health and hygiene expos and presentations
  • *Provide free dental check-ups in poor communities, schools and orphanages
  • *Do a fundraising campaign back home to raise cash and kind to donate to the dental care facility where you will be volunteering
Project Details

Dental Hygiene Volunteer Abroad Project Placements

You will be placed at either a private dental practice, a hospital or in a clinic in either Kingston, Saint Catherine, Montego Bay or Saint Ann.

You may also visit schools, orphanages or communities on some days to conduct expos/presentations or to teach locals about proper oral hygiene.

Amount Of Participants:

This project can accommodate up to 30 volunteers at a time. If you have a larger group we will need to make special arrangements.

Experience:

It is not compulsory that you need experience to join our volunteer dentistry abroad programs, however it would play a big role in the activities that you will be able to do. More experienced volunteers such as medical students or trained dentists will be allowed to perform more technical tasks.

Project Activities:

It is important that you plan ahead when volunteering abroad, so that you will have a good idea of what you hope to accomplish on your trip to Jamaica. We will work with you during the application process to create an itinerary.

Resources:

We encourage persons joining our dental volunteer programs in Jamaica to try and collect as many donations as possible back home for their project in Jamaica. We will provide a list of items that the project desperately need.

This is OPTIONAL, and you do not wish to do this if you do not want to.

If you wish to collect resources and donations, we encourage you to read our fundraising guide for interesting ideas to help you raise funds for your trip to Jamaica. We will also provide you with documentation to help you apply for grants and other funding if you desire.

Duration:

Our international dental volunteer programs run from 1 week up to 3 months. You will need to check your country’s visa requirements if you are planning to stay longer.

Your First Day:

A Program Advisor will accompany you to your project on the first day and introduce you to the staff. You will also be given a tour of the facility and shown where to purchase lunch. Your Program Advisor will ensure that you are fully settled in and are set on your objectives before departing.

Transportation:

You will be transported to and from your volunteer site daily by trusted company representatives. You travel according to your itinerary, so if you wish to alter your project time on any of the days, let us know so that we can make proper arrangements.

Project Completion:

When you complete your project, you will be presented a signed Certificate of Participation from our General Manager. We will also sign any documentation that you require to authenticate community service hours.
